Why am I getting the ORA-01195 error when issuing a recover command?

An Oracle user asks why they are seeing the ORA-01195 error when issuing a recover command.

I was cloning a database using hot backup, and when I issued a recover command I got this error:

ORA-01195:online backup of file needs more recovery to be consistent ORA-01110:data file
1:'U:ORACLEORADATASPACESSYSTEM01.dbf'

The thing is that I am using netapps backup. In the script itself, written after ending the backup, is alter database backup control to c:.....*.bak But whatever clone I have done before, I used the change the certain things in trace file, for e.g, in place of reuse I used to write set, but here, scripts is already written. Could you help me?

It looks like you took a hot backup of the tablespace and now you need some recovery to resolve any inconsistencies in the datafile. Aside from just restoring the datafiles, you'll also have to restore the transactions in the archived redo logs. So restore your archived redo logs to the server as well. Then do the following:

STARTUP MOUNT
ALTER DATABASE RECOVER UNTIL CANCEL;
When prompted for a log, give the database the first archived redo log name and location.
Repeat for each archived redo log
When the last log has been applied, answer CANCEL
ALTER DATABASE OPEN RESETLOGS;
