What is Oracle Gateway?

We are currently running on 8.1.5 on AS/400. We would like to upgrade to 8.1.7. We were asked to upgrade to Oracle Gateway. What does that mean? Also, we had another DB running on NT4. Are there any issues upgrading to W2K?
The Oracle Gateway is a product that allows Oracle to talk to other databases. The supported version depends on what database you are going to be interfacing to. You can check out Metalink to find out the supported versions. Go to http://metalink.oracle.com and click on "Product Lifecycle" then click on Certifications. You can perform a query on the platform you are using (win2000), the product (Gateways), and then the database that you are interfacing to.
