What Linux flavor should I use for my Linux proof of concept in Oracle?

Want to do a Linux proof of concept in Oracle? Read what an Oracle expert has to say about which Linux flavor is best.

Our company currently runs Oracle 10g on Sun SPARC Unix servers. I want to do a proof of concept of Linux in Oracle using Linux to benchmark performance and cost. What are your thoughts as to the best Linux flavor and hardware?
Any supported Linux system will work for Oracle. I really do not have a preference just so long as Oracle supports that distro. I've used Red Hat, and others. To me, they are mostly the same as far as Oracle is concerned.
