Upgrading from 7.3.4 to 9i with PowerBuilder

I am upgrading an Oracle 7.3.4 database to Oracle9i. I have many systems using PowerBuilder v7 and Developer 2000 to communicate with this database. What kind of issues do I have to look into when planning out this upgrade?

I am upgrading an Oracle 7.3.4 database to Oracle9i. I have many systems using PowerBuilder v7 and Developer 2000 to communicate with this database. What kind of issues do I have to look into when planning out this upgrade? I already know it will require a PowerBuilder upgrade.
There were many changes introduced to the Oracle database between release 7.3.4 and 9.2 so an upgrade will definitely affect any applications that are hosted in your database. I would suggest that you choose the best migration path for your database (this would depend on the size of the database, length of production outage allowed, etc.) and then perform the upgrade process several times in a non-production environment. After the database is upgraded each time, ensure that all application support teams affected by this upgrade have a chance to test their applications.

The Oracle9i Release 2 (9.2) Database Migration Guide is a good resource to assist you with this upgrade. The guide is located on Oracle's Technology Network Web site.

The key word to remember when upgrading is test, test, test!
