TNS errors: ORA-12514 and ORA-12502

My problem is with a TNS error. I am able to connect from one client using the tnsnames.ora defined, but when I use the same file from another client system, I do not get connected. In the listernerlog it shows these TNS errors: ORA-12514 and ORA-12502. In both the cases, the database server is in remote place.
The biggest problem is the ORA-12502 error. This is saying that the CONNECT_DATA string in your TNS alias is empty. You'll need to verify that the CONNECT_DATA string in your TNSNAMES.ORA file contains a valid database to connect to.
