I have developed a very simple application using Visual Basic and Oracle 9 DBMS. The software is runnig on a terminal server, and there are 3 users using this application. The software in very frequently querying the database in order to refresh some text boxes. I am getting the error, "TNS:address already in use." I have read about the USE_SHARED_SOCKET key value, but where do I have to put this key value: on the Oracle server, or on the application server? And what kind of key is USE_SHARED_SOCKET. Is it a a binary value, or a DWORD value?
You do not need to modify the registry. You can just add the following as an environment variable:
USE_SHARED_SOCKET = TRUE
Or you can add this in the registry in the HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINESOFTWAREORACLEHOME<#> folder. Make it a DWORD value. A reboot of the server is required for this to take affect.
