I am looking for the solution for the ORA-01034 error (Oracle not available). We tried your solution but in OracleServiceSID the option for start is disabled. How is it supposed to be started?
You'll have to look in your registry and verify that a few settings are correct. To do that, follow these steps:
- Type 'regedit' and click OK
- Navigate the folder pane on the left to HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINESoftwareOracleHome0
- Look for the ORA_sid_SHUTDOWN entry and make sure it is set to TRUE
- Verify that the ORA_sid_SHUTDOWNTYPE entry is set to 'I' (for Immediate shutdowns).
If the registry entries are not defined correctly, change them and reboot your server.
If all that is ok, then it is a corrupt service. You can use the oradim utility to drop and recreate the service. Type 'oradim' at a command line prompt and you will be able to see all of the options to drop the service and recreate it.
