Shutdown is slow after migrating to 64-bit

I migrated from 32-bit to 64-bit Oracle Database 8.1.7.4 -- but since migration the database takes a lot of time to shutdown normal, though there is no active session. Can you please explain what might me be the problem?
So, you're saying it is taking longer BUT it still eventually shuts down, right? I don't know of any specific reason why it would be slower than 32 bit. Have you checked the alert log and dump directories to see if there are any errors occurring that you need to review? I'd suggest you check that out and if it continues to be a problem or doesn't shut down at all, contact Oracle support directly.
