When installing Oracle 10g on an HP-UX machine, starting from first command:
It gives an error, "runInstaller: execute permission denied."
First of all, ensure you are using the proper Oracle software for your operating system. This is a common error message if you are using incorrect software. Second, if you copied the software to a staging area and are installing from there, ensure that the permissions are correct. Finally, there was a reported problem with installing Oracle 9.2 on HP-UX and the fix was to ensure that the scripts called by runInstaller had execute privileges. These scripts should be located in the install directory under the runInstaller executable.
