I'm having a problem with restoring a database in Oracle using a database folder. I don't have a proper backup file, i.e., dump file. But I have the database folder located in my Oracle folder. What should I do to restore with this folder? I was using Windows NT and now I'm using Windows 2000. Please tell me clearly because I'm new to Oracle. Your help will be appreciated.
It's unclear to me from your question whether you are attempting to recover the Oracle software or a database. If you do not have a proper backup of your database (hot backup, cold backup or export), there is no way to recover it. You can only create a new database, which will not contain the data that was lost. If you are trying to recover the Oracle software, the best thing to do in this case is to reinstall Oracle.
