I have a full export of a database that I would like to restore to a previous date on the same server, using the full export file. My understanding is that there are steps to be taken before performing the full import that are not clear to me. Would you be able to outline the necessary steps to restore a database from a full export? Thank you!
Using export and import for your backup and recovery strategy limits you to one option. You will have to blow away the existing objects and then import them anew. This may mean that you have to re-create the database. You cannot use the dump file to roll forward to any particular date, even if you have the archived redo logs.
