I have about 100 PCs (Windows XP and 2000) that have a combination of Developer 2000 R2.1, Developer 2000 R2.1 Demos and/or Developer 2000 R2.1 Direct Drivers. When I run the Oracle Installer, it sees the installed products. When I select products to remove (it does not matter if it is one product or all 14 listed), I get a warning that the product is required for the other products and it asks if I am sure that I want to remove it. I answer yes and the installer terminates (just closes, no error messages). When I start the installer up again, all of the products are still listed.
How can I go about getting the Oracle software off of the PCs (Oracle is no longer used in our environment)? Is there some standalone utility that will remove/strip the Oracle files and registry entries?
The ideal solution would be to uninstall the Oracle products with the Oracle Universal Installer (OUI). As you mentioned, there are registry entries which the installer would clean up. It's difficult to say why the installer terminates but the best place to look for clues is in the logs. There is usually a log produced called InstallActions.log every time the installer is started. There might also be a .err file produced. A good start would be to review these logs and see what the error messages are.

Can I use /var/opt/oracle/oratab to specify listener information?
We would like to migrate our database from Oracle 8.1.7 to Oracle 10g. We would like to know the impact for our application developed using Delphi ...
I have been trying to install Oracle 8.1.7 on SUSE Linux 9.0 and got the error:
"Error in invoking target install of makefile /opt/oracle/...../*.mk."
