Receiving an error message during Oracle 9i installation

I'm attempting to do an Oracle 9i installation on Windows 2000. At the end of installation -- when set up was installing Database Configuration Assistant -- I received the error "Invalid end header format". How can I solve this problem?
I've never seen that error. I usually install a new ORACLE_HOME, choose not to create a database, and then fire up the DBCA after the installation is finished (and I apply any patchsets available). I doubt that will make a difference for you, though I just find it to be a good practice.

If you don't have a database error (ORA-), then you're probably hitting some sort of DBCA bug. I'd use the DBCA to generate scripts and then run the scripts manually to see if you can create a database that way.
