Problems with physical memory usage after migrating from Oracle 8.1.7 to AIX 5.2

I had to migrate Oracle 8.1.7 from AIX 4.3 to AIX 5.2. Everything looks okay except that when a user launched SQL statements, the physical memory gets filled to near 100%, whereas that was not the case on the AIX 4.3 system. What do you think could be causing this?
Maybe you've found a bug. If you have not yet patched to 8.1.7.4, you should as you won't get any help from support until you at least go to the terminal patch set for the desupported release. I presume that you're using SQL*Plus on the server. If so, determine whether the memory leak is from SQL*Plus or from the dedicated server process spawned by the SQL*Plus connection using flags from the 'ps' command to check memory usage. If it is SQL*Plus on the server, then try running things from another host and maybe another platform to see if you can replicate the problem. If it is the dedicated server process, you'll have to file a TAR with Oracle. They will likely advise you to upgrade to a later version of Oracle since 8.1.7 will begin its desupport on its final platforms on 31-DEC-2004.
