We are running Oracle 9i Standard Edition on Windows XP. For our application purposes we need to do an Oracle installation without any interaction. Is it possible to run something like a predefined Oracle setup?
Yes, you are able to perform a silent installation with the Oracle Universal Installer (OUI). This involves creating something called a response file which the OUI uses to complete the installation without manual intervention. With Oracle 9i you should be able to perform one installation interactively and save it to a response file, then just use this response file to perform the other installations in silent mode. Alternatively, use the sample response file and modify the specific entries.

Can I use /var/opt/oracle/oratab to specify listener information?
We would like to migrate our database from Oracle 8.1.7 to Oracle 10g. We would like to know the impact for our application developed using Delphi ...
I have been trying to install Oracle 8.1.7 on SUSE Linux 9.0 and got the error:
"Error in invoking target install of makefile /opt/oracle/...../*.mk."
