I did an initial installation of Oracle 184.108.40.206.0 on an XP system. When it goes to create the database and start the instance, I get an ORA-12571 error right away. This happens with both Enterprise and Standard Edition. I've found no help searching forums where this has been raised by others.
I have never run into this problem but it appears to be a 220.127.116.11 problem on XP, both with the database and with the infrastructure installation of the application server. In both cases the fix is to comment out the SQLNET.AUTHENTICATION_SERVICES=(NTS) line in %ORACLE_HOME%networkadminsqlnet.ora before the configuration assistants begin to run.
