Migrating from stand-alone server to blade server

Currently I have a database (8.1.7) on a stand-alone AIX server. I have a new blade server loaded with Oracle 10g that is attached to a SAN for the data storage area. Is there any command or utility in Oracle that will allow us to migrate this database?

Currently I have a database (8.1.7) on a stand-alone AIX server. I have a new blade server loaded with Oracle 10g that is attached to a SAN for the data storage area. (AIX is loaded on the SAN also -- there is no data physically on the blade server.) Is there any command or utility in Oracle that will allow us to migrate this database? What are your recommendations?
My first recommendation is to read the Oracle Upgrade Guide for 10g. This document goes over all of your options and, in some cases, includes step-by-step instructions.

That being said, if I were going from one server to a new server, I'd use Oracle's export and import utilities to perform the move. This will also do the upgrade at the same time for you. Another option (since you are going from AIX to AIX) is to leverage Transportable Tablespaces for the move. Both of these are discussed in the Upgrade Guide.
