Migrating 8i databases to 9i

We have a few Oracle8i (8.1.7.4) databases, and we are going to upgrade them to 9i (9.2.0.5) in the next few days. What are the different ways to migrate the 8i DBs to 9i and is one better than the other?

There are three common methods of upgrading a database. The first is to use the Database Upgrade Assistant. This is a GUI that will guide you through the upgrade process. The second method is to upgrade manually by following the migration instructions and running the appropriate scripts. The third common method is to perform a full export of your 8i database and import it into a newly created 9.2 database. All of these methods have advantages and disadvantages. The method you choose depends on many factors, such as cutover time, risk assessment, disk space available, etc.
