Microsoft Hotfixes causing installation problems

I am trying to install Oracle 9i on my HP ML150 server, which has 1 gigabyte RAM, running Windows 2000 Server with Service Pak 4 and some Hotfixes running on that. While installing, at a particular point (59% completed with disk 3 inside) when the file "ORAPRTOP9.DLL" is being installed, I am getting a "File access problem" error. I tried logging in as both "Local Administrator" and as "Database Administrator," but in vain.

When I tried my local system, the same problem happened. So I formatted my hard drive and installed Windows 2000 Server with service pak 4. The installation went through fine without any difficulties.

Now, I have figured out that it's because of some of the Hotfixes on my server. I can't deinstall all the Hotfixes and make an RD on my server.

You've already identified that a Microsoft Windows Hotfix is causing your problem, so I'm not sure there is anything else I can do to help you. You can also search MetaLink as the forums are searchable and you may find a posting with an issue similar to yours, or you can search through the ITKnowledge Exchange at https://itknowledgeexchange.techtarget.com/itanswers/.
