I have just completed the upgrade from 8.0.6 to 8.1.7 to 126.96.36.199 on HP-UX UNIX 11.0. Also this is an SAP 4.6B system. When we were running the 8.0.6 version, the memory usage was 54% used. Now that we are at 9i, we start at 54% but within 24 hours, we are up to 100%. I have searched the internet, SearchSAP and OSS for memory leaks but have found nothing. Have you heard of any 9i issues that would cause this problem?
It's really hard, if not impossible, to diagnose your problem with such a minimal amount of information. So what I'll suggest is that you take a look at how your init.ora parameters are set -- in particular, settings for a new parameter called pga_aggregate_target and/or workarea_size_policy. In 9i, Oracle offers the option of automated PGA space management. These two parameters allow the DBA to have the PGA dynamically configured by the RDBMS. These settings might be part of your culprit.
I'd also check other memory allocations in init.ora. There have been quite a few changes from 8.0.6 to 9.0.2 and you may just be seeing issues caused by having "old" parameter settings in play.
