Memory needed for RMAN backups
I am thinking of using RMAN as the backup and recovery procedure. I want to know how much memory it will use for backup per channel. I want to know if I need to upgrade memory before using RMAN.

RMAN really does not use much memory for the channel. The channel is just a pipe into the backup destination device. As soon as data flows into the channel, that data flows onto the device. The amount of memory that RMAN uses is negligable compared to the database instance.
