Long query with where clause causes error

I am getting the "ERROR at line 1: ORA-03113: end-of-file on communication channel" error message whenever I run a very long query having a 'where' clause.

I have an Oracle 9i (Oracle9i Enterprise Edition Release 9.2.0.1.0, production) database. I am getting the "ERROR at line 1: ORA-03113: end-of-file on communication channel" error message whenever I run a very long query having a 'where' clause. After that I have to log in again. Then if I run the query without the 'where' clause it's fetching data. But if I add the where clause to that query it generates the same error. Kindly help me. What to do now to run the query?
This sounds like a bug in Oracle. If a query is consitently resulting in the ORA-3113 error, then it is probably due to some bug. Since your version is Oracle 9.2.0.1, it is highly likely that the bug has been fixed. One solution is to apply the Oracle 9.2.0.8 patchset or upgrade to Oracle 10g. The other option is to contact Oracle Support. They will have you generate a network trace and repeat the error to help you diagnose the problem. But don't be surprised to hear them tell you to apply the latest patchset.
