Installing XDK into Oracle 8.1.7.4 on Unix

I have been asked to install the XDK for PLSQL version 9.2.0.4 into an Oracle 8.1.7.4 database on Tru64 Unix. The only versions of the XDK available for download are SUN, HP and Linux. Can I install one of these versions and are there any special steps I need to take? I expect that the problem may be in the .jar files and not in the packages.

I'm not sure you need to download the XDK unless you want the latest version and didn't install the Java components when you installed your ORACLE_HOME. On my typical, default install on Linux, I already have $ORACLE_HOME/xdk. If you run $ORACLE_HOME/xdk/install/initxml.sql, it will be installed into your database.

As for trying to take a 9.2.0.4 XDK and load it into a 8.1.7.4 DB, I'd only do that with the guidance of Oracle support as I think you may have unpredictable results.
