I wish to install Oracle 9i on a server that already runs a SQL Server database. Are there any problems that I may encounter?

Oracle and SQL Server can coexist quite nicely on the same server. The biggest thing you need to watch out for is the shared resources each database will require. For instance, make sure that the database server has enough memory to run both instances. Also ensure that file I/O does not experience too much contention. You may have to add extra disk units to spread out the I/O. So long as one database does not consume too much of these shared resources, you will see both Oracle and SQL Server work quite well next to each other.
