Installation stops while "executing pre-requisites"

I'm trying to install Oracle Database 9.0.1.0 on Windows 2003 Enterprise Server. But the installation invariably stops while "executing pre-requisites." It says 31% when I use the D: drive and 48% when I use the C: drive for the Oracle home. Any idea what's going on here?

I'm trying to install Oracle Database 9.0.1.0 on Windows 2003 Enterprise Server. I have 4GB of RAM, two CPUs (Xeon), 70GB of hard disk and have applied whatever security patches were available for the OS. But the installation invariably stops while "executing pre-requisites." It says 31% when I use the D: drive and 48% when I use the C: drive for the Oracle home. Any idea what's going on here?
According to Oracle's Certification Matrix, Oracle9i release 1 (9.0) is not supported nor certified on the Windows 2003 operating system. What is likely happening is the Oracle Universal Installer (OUI) is checking some prerequisites before it installs the software. One of those prerequisites is the operating system release. The installation is halted if certain prerequisites are not met. I would recommend installing a version of Oracle software that is supported for this operating system. For Windows 2003 server, this means you must install Oracle9i release 2 (9.2) and above.
