Getting error while installing Oracle precompilers on Unix

When installing the Oracle10g client on HP Unix 11, I am getting the following error:
__sendpath64 (first referenced in
/u01/app/oracle/product/102/rdbms/lib32/kpudfo.o)(code)
Then the installation aborts. The error occurs while the precompilers are installing. Previously Oracle installed only proc and procobol, depending on the environment variables exported. Now it is installing Fortran, too. The size of the procob32 executable is huge.

Please can you shed some light on this?

The first place I'd look is at the PATH environment variable. Make sure that /usr/ccs/bin is before other directories that contain C compilers.

The other thing to verify is that your OS is 64-bit. I'm not very familiar with the HP Unix product line, so I'm not sure if HP-UX 11 comes in 32-bit or not. But the type of error you are receiving is typical when the RDBMS has a different word size than the OS can support. Oracle 10g is 64-bit only.
