I am trying to upgrade the Oracle database from 188.8.131.52.0 to 184.108.40.206.0 by applying a patch. In my machine GUI (RedHat Linux ES 3) is not installed, but the manual says GUI is needed. How shall I upgrade the database?
The application of the 220.127.116.11 patch to the existing Oracle 18.104.22.168 binaries requires the use of the Oracle Universal Installer (OUI) which is a GUI. Check in $ORACLE_HOME/rdbms/bin to see if a binary called runInstaller exists. As well, the OUI subdirectory should exist at the same level as the oraInventory subdirectory. If, in fact, the OUI is not installed on this server you will have to install it prior to applying the 22.214.171.124 patch.

I have been trying to install Oracle 8.1.7 on SUSE Linux 9.0 and got the error:
"Error in invoking target install of makefile /opt/oracle/...../*.mk."
I'm getting errors while installing the Database Configuration Assistant.
Can I use /var/opt/oracle/oratab to specify listener information?
