Finding the tables associated with a view

How one can find the tables that are associated with a view?

The data dictionary views named user_views, all_views or dba_views can provide that information. Actually, they provide the actual source code (the select statement on which the view is based) for the view. For any view that you want to know the tables on which it is based, simply query as follows:

	SELECT text
	  FROM dba_views
	 WHERE view_name = 'MY_VIEW' ;
This will return the statement on which the view is based and show you the underlying tables.
