Finding file when only part of name is known

Does the UTL_FILE or any other Oracle package provide the ability to find files at the operating system level when only part of the file name is known?

Oracle does not supply any PL/SQL package that provides this functionality. This includes the UTL_FILE package. However, you can create a Java Stored Procedure that calls an OS utility to perform this operation. For instance, I can use the 'find' command in Unix/Linux to find a file in the OS with part of the file name being given. I can code a Java Stored Procedure to call the 'find' utility and report its results back to me. Click here for an example.
