I am using Oracle9i Enterprise Edition 18.104.22.168 on Windows 2000 Advanced Server in my organization. I am trying to apply Patch Release 2 (22.214.171.124.0) Patch Set 5 for Windows (32-Bit), but the OUI is failing in the middle, throwing an exception that one of the services is still running, although I have shut down the Oracle9i database and stopped all the Oracle services (listener, agents, http server, etc.) as mentioned in the patch note. Can you tell me which service is causing patch installation failure?
There is obviously a service running that needs to be shut down before the upgrade can proceed, and it may not be an Oracle service since you've indicated that all relevant Oracle services have already been stopped. If you also have SQL Server running on this server, it might be best to stop it also. There should be a log file generated when the Oracle Universal Installer was invoked (usually in the $ORACLE_BASE/oui subdirectory) called installActions.log. In there, you may find more information about what the exact problem is.

Can I use /var/opt/oracle/oratab to specify listener information?
We would like to migrate our database from Oracle 8.1.7 to Oracle 10g. We would like to know the impact for our application developed using Delphi ...
I have been trying to install Oracle 8.1.7 on SUSE Linux 9.0 and got the error:
"Error in invoking target install of makefile /opt/oracle/...../*.mk."
