Export failing with EXP-00002

I'm having trouble with exporting using the Oracle 8.1.6 export utility to export tables from an Oracle 9.2.0.5.2 database. These exports are part of a bill close we do every month and have been working fine for about a year. Now suddenly the export is failing with EXP-00002.

Local exports on the 8i database work fine and this remote process also works on an Oracle 8.0.7 install. Nothing has changed on the servers except some nic duplex settings -- but I've changed them back. I'm stumped. Thanks in advance.
The EXP-00002 error is the message indicating the root cause of your problem. This message is telling you that the dump file cannot be created or written to. Make sure that you have appropriate file permissions to create the file in the directory you have chosen. Also, make sure that the disk destination has enough space to hold the entire file. The error has more to do with the OS side of things, rather than Oracle itself.
