Export Oracle 9i database from Solaris to Windows

I want to use an Oracle 9i R2 database dump from Sun Solaris and import it into a database on a Windows XP machine. When I create a new empty database, I get the message "Oracle not available."

We want to use an Oracle 9i R2 database dump from Sun Solaris and import it into an Oracle 9i R2 database on a Windows XP machine to query some things. I did a full export and ftp (bin) the dump over the network to the machine but when I create a new empty database, I get the message "Oracle not available." Any ideas?
You first need to create the service before you can create an Oracle database on a Windows platform. This is somewhat of a different process than creating a database on a Unix-based system. For additional information on how to create a database on the Windows operating system, the Oracle9i Release 2 (9.2) Database Administrator's Guide for Windows is a good reference.
