Error trying to print from 8.0.5 on XP

I work at a help desk and have a customer using Oracle Release 8.0.5 on Windows XP. Everything works fine until she tries to print. The black script comes up as it usually does but an error -- ORA-12571 TNS Packet Writer Failure -- appears. Then it asks for a user id. I have been searching the Web site and did follow one suggestion to change SQLNET.Authentication_Services from NTS to NONE but that didn't do anything. Please help!
Your problem is most likely that Oracle 8.0.5 is not certified for Windows XP. Weird errors like this occur when Oracle 8 or 8i software runs on XP platforms. In addition, the only XP platform that Oracle is certified for is the XP Professional platform. XP Home is not supported. Make sure that you are running certified combinations and I would bet that your problems go away!
