Error says temp dir does not have enough space

While installing Oracle 10g on Windows XP I'm getting an error saying the temp dir should be writable or 450 MB of space should be there. I checked my hardware requirements and didn't find the root cause.

While installing Oracle 10g on Windows XP (P3 machine) I'm getting an error saying the temp dir should be writable or 450 MB of space should be there. I checked my hardware requirements and didn't find the root cause. There is 256 MB of RAM and 10 GB of space on my C: drive.
The Oracle Universal Installer performs some preliminary checks of the operating system prior to starting the installation and will halt the process if it encounters a problem or deficiency. Ensure that the user you are logged in as has administrator privileges on the Windows XP machine. This user must be able to write to the TEMP directory during the installation of Oracle software. The Oracle Database 10g Release 2 (10.2) Installation Guide for Microsoft Windows (32-Bit) provides step-by-step instructions on how to install Oracle 10g on the Windows operating system.
