How to dump data from Oracle 10g to Oracle 9i? Or, how to move the dump from a 10g database to a 9i database? Thanks in advance.
Because you are attempting to get data from Oracle 10g to 9i, you have two choices. You can use the export and import utilities, or you can create a database link from the 9i database to the 10g database and pull the data through that way. Export/import is usually more efficient. The trick here is that to export data from Oracle 10g, you will have to use an Oracle 9i exp binary to do it; otherwise, when you try to import into the 9i database, it will not be successful. You must always use a version of the export utility that is equal to the lowest version of either the source or the target database. If you have access to Metalink, there is a very useful article that explains the compatibility of export/import between different versions (Doc ID #132904.1).

Can I use /var/opt/oracle/oratab to specify listener information?
We would like to migrate our database from Oracle 8.1.7 to Oracle 10g. We would like to know the impact for our application developed using Delphi ...
I have been trying to install Oracle 8.1.7 on SUSE Linux 9.0 and got the error:
"Error in invoking target install of makefile /opt/oracle/...../*.mk."
