I have installed Developer 6 client on a laptop computer. There were no problems with the installation. However, now when I try to connect to the application (which is residing on a separate server), I get the following error:
ORA-12571: TNS:Packet writer failure
I have already tried the below mentioned remedies but they were not useful in my case:
1. HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINESOFTWAREORACLE. Then add EPC_DISABLED and set the value to TRUE.
2. Changing the SQLNET.ORA file to have the following line:
SQLNET.AUTHENTICATION_SERVICES = (NONE)
Can you provide specific pointers to help me out? We are working on a wireless LAN.
First of all, working on a wireless LAN should not cause problems since the TNS protocol is several layers removed from the physical layer. What I would guess is that the wireless adapter setup may have configured some firewalling on your system that is making your outbound connections fail.
There are many, many possible reasons for the TNS-12571 error, but most of them end up tracing back to a networking issue of some kind.
While I don't think that using a wireless LAN is your problem, I'd try disabling the wireless card and try using a wired connection to see if your symptoms change. At least that might determine whether or not the wireless connection has some different setup than your wired connection.
