Configuring file system in Linux before Oracle installation

I am new to Oracle and am trying to install Oracle on Linux. How do I configure or create the file system in Linux before I install Oracle?

I am new to Oracle and am trying to install Oracle in Linux Red Hat. My problem is how to configure or create the file system in Linux before I can install Oracle. Can you help me out?
Assuming that you are attempting to install Oracle 10g on Linux, the Oracle 10g Release 2 (10.2) Database Installation Guide for Linux x86 is a very good place to start. Additionally, Oracle's Technology Network Web site has an entire section dedicated to Oracle on Linux. Check out the Linux Technology Center on OTN.
