Compatibility issues running 64-bit Oracle 9i with 32-bit client library

We are planning to install ARS 6.x, which is a 32-bit application on AIX 5.2, 64-bit ORACLE 9i Release 2. We would have to use ORACLE 9i 32-bit client library. I'm not sure it's supported. Can you tell me if it is?

Sure, the word size (32-bit or 64-bit) does not have to match for servers and clients. I'm not sure I can state any benefits to using a 64-bit client since most of the 64-bit advantages are in the database server software. There's not specific certifications done to verify compatibility between word sizes, but I've never seen any issues with configurations like you describe.

If Oracle 32-bit clients on Windows can communicate with Oracle 64-bit servers on *nix, then anything should be possible!
