Commenting out db_cache_size parameter in spfile

We are trying to enable AWE support on our Windows 2003 Enterprise Edition running Oracle 10g database and per Oracle Note #225349.1. We are using ASM and in turn our spfile is stored there. I need to comment out the db_cache_size parameter and can't find an alter command to do this. I have tried to create a pfile to edit but it is apparently storing it in ASM as well. Have we found a potential bug? Any advice would be appreciated.

Create pfile='c:temppfile.ora' from spfile; this should put the pfile right where you want it.

Try this to remove the parameter from the spfile:

alter system reset db_cache_size scope=spfile sid='*';

I'm not sure that will work, but it's worth a try and won't hurt anything if it fails.
