I have installed Oracle 9i Personal Edition on my Win2K machine. It works fine. However, when I install Developer 2000 (Forms 5) neither of them work. In Oracle I get the error "closed connection" and in Developer 2000 while connecting to my Oracle database I get the error "ORA-12154:TNS: could not resolve service name." I have installed them in different directories. I read that the tnsnames.ora and listner.ora file have to be modified and changes have to be made in the Windows registry. Since I am new to Oracle I don't know how to go about it. Kindly help me out with this problem.
My suggestion would be to use the Net Configuration Assistant to do this. You can configure a listener by using the Net Configuration Assistant (available from the Start menu on your Windows server). The assistant will create a listener.ora for you and also start the listener. You can also test connectivity to your database via this interface.

Can I use /var/opt/oracle/oratab to specify listener information?
