Changing location of controlfile during RMAN backup

I have RMAN backups set up on my Oracle 10g database and I want to put the controlfile location in a different place. But it's not backing up there, it's backing up from the default. Can you help?

To change where RMAN places the backup file, use the ALLOCATE CHANNEL command in RMAN. For instance, you can tell RMAN to back up the control file to D:\backup\ by using the following RMAN script:
RMAN {
   ALLOCATE CHANNEL disk1 TYPE DISK FORMAT 'd:\backup\%d_ctl_%t';
   BACKUP CONTROLFILE;
   }
