If you're going to upgrade an Oracle 8.0.5 database, I would at least upgrade it to Oracle 220.127.116.11 if you cannot go to Oracle 10g R2. Oracle8i is no longer supported so I would not recommend upgrading to this release.
I'm not so sure that you can directly upgrade an Oracle 8.0.5 database to 9.2; you can, however, choose to use the export/import method to accomplish this. Alternatively, you can upgrade the database in place to 8.0.6 and then attempt the direct upgrade to 9.2. You would then have a choice of using the upgrade assistant or performing the upgrade manually by running the appropriate upgrade scripts.
The best reference is the Oracle9i Database Migration Guide for Release 2 (9.2) which can be found on Oracle Technology Network at here.
