Best way to backup database

What's the best way to backup my database? I already make full system backup (ufsdump in Solaris) for the file system that contains Oracle, but I am wondering if there are other possible ways to do it.
It is highly likely that your database backup with ufsdump is useless unless you take the database down and perform a cold backup. If the database is up and running, then the datafiles are active and any OS utility to backup active datafiles will not have built in mechanisms needed to resolve any datafile inconsistency due to files that change during the backup. I would highly suggest that you read the Oracle Recovery Manager Users Guide for all the information you'll need on setting up RMAN to backup your Oracle databases.
