Becoming an Oracle DBA

What do you recommend for someone who wants to get started in the Oracle DB field? I have a relational DB background and want to become an Oracle DBA.
While I haven't taken the course, Oracle Education does offer an introductory course for experience SQL users that may be an entry point for you. Oracle Education offers some of the best training anywhere. There are a number of non-Oracle training outlets as well and many of them offer excellent training. Personally, I would look for a company that provides consulting services and uses those consultants to teach their training classes. I've found that field consultants can relate to the real problems that one is likely to encounter. Full-time trainers sometimes lack the real-world experiences that can make training more relevant to what students see back in their environment.
