Application differences on 9i versus 10g

We are about to move to a new SOP package that currently runs on an Oracle 9i database. We need to stress test the hardware platform it will run on, but within the timeframe of the project, the database will move to 10g. Will there be a perforamnce difference running the same application against the different versions?
It's impossible to predict without empirical evidence, but I can tell you that, in my experience, Oracle 10g performs as well as, if not better than, Oracle 9i. However, every database and application is different, and there are always cases in which an upgrade causes an application to run much more slowly, so you really can't be sure until you test.
