Any way to manipulate sysdate?

How do I change the sysdate on the database side without changing the date of the OS system?

HP unix date 2004-02-04
Oracle SysDate 2004-01-27

If I run this script:
Select sysdate from dual;
I need a date from the past like 2004-01-27.
I don't know of any way to manipulate sysdate... it always should match the date/time from the OS. If you need to have a different date, why not write your own function called mysysdate and have it calculate the date as you need. Then, call that function instead of sysdate.
