Accessing database instances after old DBA team left no information

I have a 9i release 2 database running on Windows 2000. It was created by a DBA team that has since left this organization. The old team did not leave enough information to access database instances, test connections, and login to SQL*Plus. Is there a way to alter/changes/override the userid/password information?

Log on to the database server with an account that is a member of the ORA_DBA or ORA_OPER group. Then you can access SQL*Plus in a Command Line window as follows:

 sqlplus /nolog
 connect / as sysdba
No password is needed. When connected, you can change any Oracle account password with the following command:

 ALTER USER username IDENTIFIED BY newpass;
