Margaret Wright: OAUG will stay the course

SearchOracle.com's Lena Weiner-Bishop had the opportunity to catch up with Margaret Wright, the Oracle Applications Users Group new president, at Collaborate 13 in Denver. During their conversation, Weiner-Bishop asked Wright questions about topics like OAUG's new direction under her presidency, what motivated her to run for this office and more.

Wright has been a member of OAUG since 2002, served on the OAUG board in 2007 through 2008 and again from 2010 through 2011. She also served as executive vice president of the OAUG in 2012. She has more than 30 years of experience in IT. In this video, she states that becoming president "was a natural progression…. It's about service … and giving back. I felt that this position would hopefully be a position in which I could make a positive impact on members."

She also states that she plans on avoiding huge changes within the group, preferring to maintain the course and continue the group's emphasis on member education. "We're really going to stay the course," she said. "We know that we're strong in education…. We need to increase networking opportunities at low cost or no cost … and then, with influence; that's our advocacy part with Oracle. So, I don't see us changing anything, but continuing to stay focused on our core. If we do change, it will be the result of our members telling us we're not relevant and we need to make a change, and we will address it at that time."
