The recovery catalog contains critical backup details contained in the target database control file. The catalog can be used to recover the target database, especially when the target database control file is not available. What if you'd like to have a redundant catalog for your RMAN backups? Here's how:
1. Export the catalog owner to a binary dump file
2. Import the catalog owner to a different user on another database
3. Connect to each target database and to the new catalog user
4. Issue the resync command
5. After each backup of the target databases, connect to target database and the new catalog user and issue the resync command.
