Judge orders Oracle and Alcatel's patent-related dispute closed

Filed by Oracle last May, the suit claimed that Alcatel violated Oracle's patent rights with several products, including the OmniTouch My Messaging system. Oracle also claimed that it did not owe Alcatel any patent royalties on its products, according to news reports.

Out of the 13 patents involved in the dispute, seven belonged to Alcatel, five to Oracle and one to Siebel Systems, Inc. (which Oracle purchased in 2005). Alcatel first wrote a letter in December 2007 claiming that a number of Oracle's products, including Oracle Data Mining and Data Guard, infringed on its patents.

A U.S. District Judge ordered the case closed March 26, and its terms of agreement have not been made public.

An Oracle spokeswoman did not return a call from SearchOracle.com seeking comment.
